Central Dauphin 2, Chambersburg 1: A bad start gifted the Rams a very early goal and it cost the Trojans dearly in a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat on Tuesday afternoon in Linglestown.

“We gave up a really soft goal in the first minute, but it motivated us to fight hard,” Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said. “In the ensuing 10 inutes, we created chance after chance.”

That pressure paid off when Claire Onomastico passed to Malia Cramer outside the box and Cramer stuck a long shot into the goal for the only score for the Trojans (3-6, 1-5 MPC).

Unruh said, “Malia hit a perfectly-placed ball into the far side netting. We hit the crossbar twice off free kicks and pressed hard. Unfortunately, CD had a rare chance and used a through ball to set up their second goal. We learned many lessons and had positive moments to use for growth.”

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Cumberland Valley 3, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans were on the cusp of winning 2 games, but the Eagles pulled both of them out by a 26-24 score and downed Chambersburg in a Mid Penn Commonwealth scrap at CASHS Field House on Tuesdya night.

CV took the first and third games by that score, and added a 25-16 win in the second.

Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said, “This was a tough one. In sets 1 and 3, we had set point, but just couldn’t finish. Give CV credit for making the plays when they needed to.”

Marlie Newman paced the Trojans (4-5, 2-4 MPC), who have lost 4 straight matches, with 13 digs, followed closely by Kylee Perry and Grace Myers with 12 each. Perry also led in assists (17) and had 5 kills and 2 blocks, while Myers added 5 kills and 9 assists.

Lexi Poe led in service points with 16 and added 6 kills. Ayla Whiteley and Maddie Rydbom each posted 2 blocks and Whiteley had 6 kills.
