Greencastle-Antrim 3, Waynesboro 2: The Blue Devils pulled a victory out of the hat Tuesday night in a Mid Penn Colonial contest against the Indians in Waynesboro.

Trailing 2-0 with less than 20 minutes left in the game, Greencastle (4-1-1, 2-1-1 MPC) got busy on offense and tallied 3 goals to rally for the victory. Mason DeVaughn scored two of the goals, while Logan Andou scored the other goal.

G-A coach Ryan Palmer said, “The guys showed a ton of heart. They never quit. They don’t get down on each other. I am really proud of them.”

GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 7, Waynesboro 0: The offense stayed on fire for the Blue Devils and it produced a dominant Mid Penn Colonial decision over the Maidens on Tuesday night at Kaley Field.

Chloe Parks paced the scoring display with a 3-goal hat trick. Ava Witmer found the back of the net twice for Greencastle (3-1, 1-1 MPC) and Braelyn Cordell and Adele Davidson each scored once.

In addition, Cordell distributed the ball for 3 assists, and Lily Black, Parks and Sadie Burns each had one assist.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Shippensburg 0: The Greyhounds could not produce more than 19 points in any of the 3 games and were defeated by the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial matchup Tuesday night at G-A.

Greencastle (3-3, 2-1 MPC) was consistent, taking wins of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-18.

Alex Seville led the Blue Devils with 10 kills, and added 6 digs. Jordyn Wagner (also 3 blocks) and Avery Watson (also 8 service points, 7 digs) each produced 6 kills.

Kira Johnson came up with 13 service points, including 5 aces, and assisted 15 times. Also for G-A, Madison McDonald had 7 points, Alyssa Petty dug up 8 balls and Terryn Bard contribured 18 assists.

FIELD HOCKEY
Greencastle-Antrim 8, Waynesboro 0: Three different Blue Devil players each scored a pair of goals to lead the way in a one-sided Mid Penn Colonial contest Tursday evening at Kaley Field.

Natalie Medina, Serenity Goodman and Sydnee Bosko each found the cage twice, while Rowan Shubert and Reagan Wagner each scored once. It was Wagner’s first varsity goal.

Emily Fowler and Medina each racked up 3 assists. Greencastle (3-2, 2-1 MPC) did not allow a shot on goal by Waynesboro.

G-A coach Keara Allshouse said, “We played a really good whole team game today. Everyone supported each other as we transitioned the ball up the field on every drive. We distributed the ball really well, too.”

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Greencastle-Antrim 23, Shippensburg 32: The Blue Devil girls had all 4 runners place in the top 5 to defeat the Greyhounds for their first Mid Penn Colonial event of the season on Tuesday afternoon on their home course.

G-A’s Avery Russell topped the field, crossing the line first in 21:15, followed by Ship’s Evelyn Jones (22:52).

But runners for Greencastle (1-2, 1-2 MPC) took the next 3 places, including 3rd-place Sophia Denlinger (23:09), Lillian Denlinger (23:39) taking 4th and Monica Schemel (24:15) placing 5th.

Shippensburg’s next finisher was Lynell Bulsch in 24:27.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Shippensburg 26, Greencastle-Antrim 30: The Blue Devils and Greyhounds had a Mid Penn Colonial battle down to the wire on Tuesday at Greencastle, but the Hounds’ top 5 finishers went 1-3-5-8-9 to edge G-A by just 4 points.

Rylan Asper of Ship bested the field with a time of  17:18.

The scorers for Greencastle (3-1, 3-1 MPC) included No. 2 Billy Bender (18:02), No. 4 Micah Barrett (18:33), No. 6 Kelson Wenger (18:36), No. 7 Ace Monn (18:56) and No. 11 Trenton Gouker (19:28).

Shippensburg’s next 4 runners were Liam Feather (18:17), Collin Hackl (18:36), Kieran Dunkel (19:11) and Amron Frey (19:12), and No. 10 finisher Owen Bender (19:26) helped with bumping G-A back a point.
