G-A roundup: Track teams capture wins over Bulldogs

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle-Antrim 79, Big Spring 70: The Blue Devils beat the Bulldogs by a 35-27 score in the field events to take a narrow Mid Penn Colonial victory on Tuesday afternoon in Newville.

Greencastle (3-0, 3-0 MPC) led only 44-43 in track events.

Sweeps in the 3200 race (Avery Russell in 12:34.4, Daisy Black and Sofia Denlinger) and the pole vault (Alyssa Fowler in 10-0, Emily Fowler and Payton Alleman) also made a big difference.

Russell also won the 1600 race in 5:45.2. Other G-A winners were Ada Oberholzer in the 100 hurdles (17.3), Bailey Hurley in the discus (122-6) and Alannah Coleman in the javelin (101-6).

The Blue Devils also took 2 of the 3 relays. The 4×800 team of Ava Linka, Rowan Shubert, Gabriella Burns and Black won in 14:15.8, and the 4×100 team of Aqueelah Hogue, Kadence Abbott, Emma Marx and Chloe Parks won in 51.4.

 

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Greencastle 115, Big Spring 35: By winning 16 of 18 events, the Blue Devils romped to a Mid Penn Colonial meet victory over the Bulldogs  on Tuesday  in Newville.

Spencer Long

Greencastle (3-0, 3-0 MPC) had a pair of double winners on the track, with Spencer Long crsossing the line first in the 100 (10.9) and 200 (21.8) and Noah Parks winning the 1600 (4:51.6) and 3200 (10:51.8) races.

Other winners on the track were Ryan Marquiss in the 110 hurdles (15.7), Kaiden Ankerbrand in the 400 (54.7) and Logan Andou in the 300 hurdles (41.9).

The winning relay teams for G-A included the 4×800 (Billy Bender, Ryan Gearhart, Tatum Ullom and Kelson Wenger) in 9:51.9, the 4×100 (Cort Bradley, Long, Andou and Jerry Amstutz) in 43.0, and the 4×400 (Ankerbrand, Andou, Adam Seylar and Marquiss) in 3:38.0.

In the field, Greencastle won 6 of 7 events, with first-place finishers including Kaiden Dawson in the shot put (43-2.75), Reece Plum in the discus (137-5), Chase Diller in the javelin (162-4), Luke Hull in the high jump (5-10), Joe Lofton in the pole vault (13-3), and Adam Seylar and Dane Medina tying for first in the triple jump (39-0).
