CARLISLE AT CHAMBERSBURG
Game data: Thundering Herd at Trojans, Friday at 7 p.m., at Trojan Stadium … Mid Penn Conference game … Live stream available on MidPennBroadcasting.com … It’s Chambersburg’s Homecoming night.

Colton Horst

Last week: The Herd (0-6, 0-5 MPC) dropped a 49-0 game to Harrisburg … The Trojans (2-4, 1-4 MPC) fell 35-7 to Cedar Cliff.
The opponent: Carlisle has had a rough season so far — its closest game was a 27-7 loss to CD East … The Herd has been outscored 246-14, with the only other points coming against Mechanicsburg … Carlisle’s best player is probably OL/DL Nathan Carothers, who is 6-3 and 290 pounds; however, he has had some trouble with injuries … Curtis Stroud is the top running back and also plays linebacker … Carter Wilson and Bishop Campbell have both seen time at quarterback … The top receiver is Mickel Hakim.
Coach’s viewpoint: Chambersburg coach Gary Carter said, “We told the kids that records don’t matter in this league, because there is no team that will roll over. We can’t overlook Carlisle — they always play us tough. Wilson is a scrambler at quarterback, so we’ll have to keep contain. Carothers, if he plays, is legit. The big thing for us is we have to start fast — not making mistakes on offense, and not giving up big plays on defense. We stressed going back to square one in practice and we had a good week.”
Unsung: Carter said, “Colton Horst (linebacker) did some nice things on defense last week, as did Eli Vosberg (defensive end). Ashton Allen made a couple of nice tackles on special teams, and Cam Green and Davonte Scott did some good things on offense.”
Statistics: Trojan leaders — Passing, Cam Green 52-for-99, 611 yards, 3 TDs, 7 interceptions … Receiving, Davonte Scott 32-414, 3 TDs; Cobe Penick 22-239, 3 TDs; Isaiah Tasker 13-127, 2 TDs; Cooper Stockslager 8-84; Malachi Tasker 7-68; Brycen Murray 5-84 … Rushing, M.Tasker 68-158.

MILTON HERSHEY AT GREENCASTLE-ANTRIM
Game data: Spartans at Blue Devils, Friday at 7 p.m. at Kaley Field … Mid Penn Colonial game … Live stream available on MidPennBroadcasting.com.

Ethan South

Last week: Milton Hershey (1-5, 0-4 MPC) defeated Newport, 26-21 … Greencastle (1-5, 1-4 MPC) was waxed 35-0 by Trinity.
The opponent: The Spartans’ lone victory came last week over Newport, a Class 2A team that was 4-1 before that game … Returning starter Logan Jerry is the MH quarterback, and he’s a dual threat … The Spartans have been outscored 181-112 this season.
Coach’s viewpoint: G-A coach Jason Thurston said, “Milton Hershey runs a 4-3 defense with four in the secondary and they’ll blitz at least one linebacker every play. So we will need to take advantage of that. They’ve got some athletes with speed. They use a shotgun and run a lot of buck sweeps and quarterback counters off of that, and they’ll also fling the ball around. We just have to tackle better to stop them. Our tackling has been getting better in practice, but it’s been atrocious at times on Friday nights. The kids are having to unlearn the techniques they knew before. Our goal Friday is to play simple football, run the wing-T and hope to out-physical them. They have the athletes; our strength is discipline and playing physical.”
Unsung: Thurston said outside LB Ethan South was named the player of the game last week … “He played a really good game.” … QB Lane Barry threw for more than 100 yards against Trinity last week … Thurston said, “That was Lane’s best game. We asked him to throw more and he did well.”
Statistics: Passing — Barry 34-for-82, 405 yards, 2 TDs, 4 interceptions … Rushing — Blake Reuter 72-515, 5 TDs; Lars Galinanes 67-256, 1 TD … Receiving — Wyatt Hull 10-119; Noah Shifflett 5-99, 1 TD; Reuter 6-81; Galinanes 7-64.
