McConnellsburg Secures Shutout Victory Over Southern Huntington County 

Boys Soccer: McConnellsburg 7, Southern Huntington County 0: On September 22, the undefeated Spartans (12-0, 6-0 ICC-E) traveled to face the Southern Huntington County Rockets in a conference matchup secured a shutout.

Hoyt Glenn, Jace Fletcher, and Calin Mellott each scored twice, while Gavin DeShong added one goal. Azeiaha Lucas provided two assists, and goalkeeper Reese Alexander earned his fifth shutout of the season.

The Spartans next host Everett at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

McConnellsburg Prevails Over North Star

GIRLS SOCCER: McConnellsburg 3, North Star 1.  The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans (8-2, 6-1 ICC-S) hosted the North Star Lady Cougars in a conference matchup on September 22. The Lady Spartans outperformed their opponents and retained their position at the top of the seven-team ICC-South standings.

In the first half, Serenity Rengifo opened the scoring for McConnellsburg with an unassisted goal after 22 and a half minutes. Margaret McKelvy added a second unassisted goal for the Spartans with less than four minutes remaining in the half, giving the hosts a 2-0 advantage at halftime. In the second half, Rengifo extended the lead at the 20-minute mark with a header into the right side of the net, assisted by Gemma Gordon’s lofted pass. North Star scored their only goal on a short breakaway with 12 minutes left in regulation.
