Chambersburg wins MPC title: The Trojans picked up comfortable dual meet victories over State College (15-44) and Cumberland Valley (20-35) on Tuesday afternoon at the Tim Cook Memorial Course.

And that enabled Chambersburg to finish the regular season with a 6-0 record and capture the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division championship.

The Trojans (6-0, 6-0 MPC) had five of its runners finish in the top seven to effectively wrap up the result.

Natalie Quinn crossed the line in first place with a time of 19:39, and Lillian Spohn was the runner-up in 20:17. Brook Boone picked up third place in 20:46.

Also, Arrabella Rife was sixth in 21:42 and Kaylie Savage was seventh in 21:57.

Chambersburg coach Chris Monheim said, “Quinn and Spohn were both able to get ahead of Cumberland Valley’s top runner, one of the better kids in the district. Then Boone, Rife and Savage all had great days to help seal the victory.

Quinn’s time was the 9th-best for a Trojan on their home course, Spohn is now 21st and Boone is 33rd.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Trojans earn pair of wins: Chambersburg runners finished 1-2-3, which paved the way for a pair of Mid Penn Commonwealth victories, over Cumberland Valley (17-46) and State College (19-38) on Tuesday at the Tim Cook Memorial Course.

Julian Clark

Julian Clark had a big race for Chambersburg (5-1, 5-1 MPC), crossing the line first in 16:18, which is the third-fastest time for a Trojan boy on the home course. He passed Ed Schlichter’s time of 16:28 set in 1999.

Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said, “Julian ran smart, with negative splits for each consecutive mile, and proved his strength running that quickly on our tough and hilly home course.”

Aiden Alleman was the runner-up in 17:04, followed in third by Cole Lehman in 17:33. Also for the Trojans, Boston Vincenti placed 6th in 18:03 and Tobias Willson was 9th in 18:16.

Boyer said, “Liam Coy (10th, 18:39) ran a breakthrough race to earn his first varsity points. I’m thrilled with the way the team raced on our challenging home course.”

FIELD HOCKEY
Mechanicsburg 10, Chambersburg 1: The Wildcats beat the Trojans by the same score for the second time this season in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at Trojan Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

For Chambersburg (1-10, 0-9 MPC), Jaxin Frazer scored the lone goal, unassisted.

Goalie Lacey Mooney made 20 saves for the Trojans.

Mechanicsburg (10-1) got 3 goals each from Liberty Olivetti and Avery Rutter.
