“Our depth was too much for those teams,” Chambersburg Chris Monheim said. “I was pleased with the girls, and this was their best effort of the year so far.”

Carlisle’s Ava Bondy won the race in 18:59, with the Trojans’ Natalie Quinn next in 19:22, followed in third and fourth by teammates Lillian Spohn (20:20) and Brook Boone (20:27).

Monheim said, “Natalie could be a sub-19 girl sooner than later. Brook and Lilly had wonderful races as well, and should both be under 20 minutes in the next few weeks.”

Also for Chambersburg (3-0, 3-0 MPC), Kaylie Savage placed 8th in 21:08 and Arrabelle Rife placed 9th in 22:02. The next three were also Trojans: Maggie Holtry (22:50), Isabel Clark (22:52 and Taliya Raber (22:56).

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 17, Mifflin County 44; Carlisle 22, Chambersburg 35: The Thundering Herd put four of the first six finishers across the line to win a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet against the Trojans on Tuesday in Lewistown, and Chambersburg took a win against the Huskies.

“Carlisle put too many guys between our fourth and fifth runners, and our fifth and sixth runners,” Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said. “It was too much for us to overcome.”

For the Trojans (2-1, 2-1 MPC) Julian Clark (16:39) placed third and Aiden Alleman (16:47) was fourth. Cole Lehman took seventh in 17:21 and Boston Vincenti took 9th in 17:29. Also, Isaac Stepan was 16th (18:49) and Tobias Willson took 17th in 18:10.

Boyer said, “Some of our guys had great races, dropping time from earlier races and being able to find another gear to finish strong. Nine of our 21 guys today ran season-best times, so they should feel pretty god about leaving it all on the course,”
