Greencastle-Antrim places 3rd: The Blue Devils placed third in a Mid Penn Colonial match at Chambersburg Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, only 2 strokes back of the runner-up.

G-A (19-17) had 336 strokes, two behind Northern, while the winner, Shippensburg, playing on its home course, edged closer to a division title. The Greyhounds (30-6), who had 323 strokes, lead Northern (28-8) with one match remaining.

Also, Waynesboro (13-23) placed fourth and James Buchanan (19-17) was sixth.

The Blue Devils’ Camden Eby shot a 79 to tie for 5th and was one of 7 players to break 80. Also for G-A, Jaxson Sobol tied for 11th with an 83, Bryce Davidson tied for 14th with an 85 and Landon Summers posted an 86.

The medalist was JB’s Abram Stock, who produced a 1-over par 73, while Landon Crable of Waynesboro was second with a 77. For Ship, Ben Horgos tied for 3rd with a 78, and Kaydee Beckenbaugh tied for 5th with a 79.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Blue Devils got 2-1: Greencastle-Antrim won two of the three competitions in a quad home meet Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Devils (2-3, 1-3 MPC) defeated Waynesboro in a Mid Penn Colonial meet (23-36) and Covenant Christian (20-39) in a non-league meet. Big Spring topped G-A, 20-35.

For Greencastle, Logan Bohrer placed fifth in a time of 17:46.5, followed by Noah Parks in seventh with a time of 18:30.5.

The other G-A scorers finished 16-18 — Billy Bender (19:16.8), Ryan Gearhart (19:23.8) and Adric Coy (19:37.2).

Waynesboro’s top finisher was Devin Barger, who took fourth in 17:44.9.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
G-A’s Russell places 3rd: In a quadrangular dual meet held Tuesday afternoon at Greencastle, the Blue Devils suffered three defeats, but got a third-place finish from Avery Russell.

Russell crossed the finish line with a time of 21:37.2.

The other G-A runners were Sophia Denlinger (18th, 26:07.1), Monica Schemel (20th, 26:56.7) and Shalini Maharaj (22nd, 31:22.6).

The team scores for Greencastle (0-5, 0-4 MPC) were 19-44 vs. Waynesboro, 23-32 vs. Big Spring in Mid Penn Colonial meets, and 13-23 in a non-league event vs. Covenant Christian.

For Waynesboro, Morgan Jones was the runner-up in a time of 21:28.4.
