Greencastle-Antrim 76, Shippensburg 74: Every point was important Tuesday afternoon at Kaley Field, but the Blue Devils managed to capture a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Greyhounds by just two points.
Jaylynn Schmuck and Nike Ellenberger each won two individual events for Greencastle (3-1, 3-1 MPC) and anchored a winning relay team. Schmuck won the long jump (16-9.5) and triple jump (35-8), and ran on the 4 x 100 relay with Aqueelah Hogue, Kadence Abbott and Natalie Medina, while Ellenberger took first in the 1600 (6:01.5) and 3200 (13:31.3), and helped the 4 x 800 relay of Ava Linka, Anna Sullivan and Rowan Schubert (11:10.9).
Also taking wins for the Blue Devils were Hogue (100, 16.3); Linka (800, 2:37.1), Emily Angelini (high jump, 4-10), Alyssa Fowler (pole vault, 9-0) and Camden Winters (javelin, 99-0).
For Shippensburg, Lessa Luffy took first place in the shot put (28-4.75) and discus (114-10), and Skylen Renshaw finished first in the 400 (1:01.8) and 200 (27.3).
Also placing first for the Greyhounds were Marissa Kyner (100 hurdles, 16.3), Macy Ritter (300 hurdles, 47.9) and the 4 x 400 relay of Ritter, Kyner, Taylor Bard and Renshaw (4:17.6).
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Shippensburg 79, Greencastle-Antrim 71: The Blue Devils piled up a 55-32 advantage on the track, but the Greyhounds made up for it in the field, outscoring G-A 47-16 to win a tight Mid Penn Colonial meet at Kaley Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Spencer Long picked up two wins for Greencastle (2-2, 2-2 MPC), taking the 100 in 11.1 and the 200 in 22.1.
Other winners included Joel Amstutz in the 1600 (4:47.8), Nolan Carr in the 400 (54.5), Logan Andou in the 300 hurdles (44.2) and Noah Parks in the 800 (2:03.9).
G-A also took first in all three relays. The 4 x 800 team was Logan Bohrer, Billy Bender, Parks and Amstutz (8:27.6), the 4 x 100 included Cort Bradley, Carr, Andou and Long (44.3) and the 4 x 400 team was comprised of Long, Andou, Carr and Parks (3:35.2).
The only winners on the track for Ship were Rylan Asper in the 3200 (10:03.8) and Hayden Conyers in the 110 hurdles (16.3).
But in the field, the Hounds swept first in all 7 events. Aylen Ketch won the long (21-4) and high (5-10) jumps, Adam Keatch won the triple jump (39-2), Logan Snyder was the winner in the pole vault (11-0), Drake Wagner prevailed in the shot put (51.7), Derek Lynch in the discus (163-5) and Drake Eby in the javelin (142-1).
