Southern Fulton improved to 11-0, 3-0 after a big 16-1 win over the North Star Cougars on Tuesday.
The Indians got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jett Burger doubled down the left field line, Kaiden Schriever singled to center field, and Trentin Cain singled down the left field line, each scoring two runs.
Southern Fulton added to their early lead in the top of the second inning with a pair of two out hits. Paul Hendershot doubled deep in the right center gap and Owen Oakman singled to center field, each scoring one run.
The Indians scored eight runs on 10 hits in the top of the third inning. Joel Fitz doubled, scoring one run, Mark Fitz hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Burger tripled, scoring one run, Hendershot singled, scoring two runs, Cain singled, scoring two runs, and Fitz singled, scoring one run.
Cam Cain earned the win for Southern Fulton Varsity Indians. The sophomore righty allowed two hits and one run over two innings, striking out four and walking three. Fleegle took the loss for North Star. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up 14 runs on 14 hits, striking out none and walking two. Brooks Norris threw one inning of shutout ball for the Indians in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
Southern Fulton piled up 18 hits in the game. Trentin Cain led Southern Fulton with four runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Fitz, Cain, and Norris each collected three hits for Southern. Hendershot, Burger, and Schriever each collected multiple hits as well for the Indians.
Southern Fulton travels to ICC South foe, Forbes Road, on Thursday for a 4:30 start.
