Fannett-Metal Rolls Past Shalom Christian Academy

The Tigers ended a two game losing streak with a 8-2 victory over the visiting Flames.  After two scoreless innings, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.  

With two outs in the third inning, Jake Coffman walked and swiped second.  He scored on a frozen rope line drive by Landon Arnold to give the Tigers an early lead.  

Tigers starter Logan Hall sat the Flames down in order in the top of the fourth inning. The Tigers offense responded in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 3-0.  Designated hitter Nick Naugle reached on a dropped third strike to get things going.  Naugle stole second and scored on Tucker Seibert’s RBI double.  Seibert scored on a RBI single by Adam Hammond.

The Flames finally got on the board in the top of the 6th when Dylan Wenger scored on Will Turner’s RBI double.  In the bottom of the inning the Tigers exploded with 5 runs to put the Flames away.  

In the big inning Adam Hammond and Nick Naugle both stroked doubles.  Broc Hostler, Jake Coffman, and Landon Arnold all added RBI singles.  The Tigers batted around in the inning to take a 8-1 lead.   The Flames added a run in the 7th but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers rolled to a 8-2 victory.

Right Hander Logan Hall threw a solid game for the win.  He was charged with two runs, one earned, five hits, one walk and two strikeouts.  Hall threw a complete game on only 73 pitches with 49 going for strikes.  Trey Wenger took the loss on the hill for Shalom.  

The Tigers defense was solid all game committing only one error on the day behind Hall.  Catcher Ayden Ryder threw out two base runners at second.  Center fielder Jake Coffman made a highlight reel diving play in the outfield.  

Offensively, The Tigers had 10 hits on the day including four doubles.  Nick Naugle stroked a pair of doubles.  Arnold, Hammond and Nick Naugle each had a pair of hits.  Jake Coffman scored a pair of runs.  Landon Arnold had a pair of stolen bases.  

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host Windber at 4:30.
