G-A roundup: Gettysburg takes down Blue Devil track teams

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Gettysburg 87, Greencastle-Antrim 67: The Blue Devils won 7 events in their season opener, including 3 by Jaylynn Schmuck, but the Warriors’ depth made a difference in a Mid Penn Colonial meet at Gettysburg on Tuesday afternoon.

Schmuck captured first place in the 200 dash in 27.5, had the best measurement in the long jump (16-5) and also captured the triple jump with a leap of 34-3.5.

In addition, the team of G-A Kadence Abbott, Aqueelah Hogue, Schmuck and Natalie Medina posted a time of 52.4 to win the 4 x 100 relay.

Hogue put up a time of 12.9 to finish first in the 100 dash and Anna Sullivan prevailed in the 400 with a time of 1:06.7.

The only winner for Greencastle in the throwing events was Bailey Hurley in the discus, with a heave of 120-11.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Gettysburg 99, Greencastle-Antrim 51: The Warriors outscored the Blue Devils 47-17 in the field on Tuesday afternoon, which contributed to their Mid Penn Colonial victory over G-A in a season opener in Gettysburg.

Jack Harper’s win in the pole vault, at 10-0, was Greencastle’s only win in a field event.

On the track the Blue Devils picked up one relay win and three individual victors. The relay was the 4 x 100 team of Cort Bradley, Nolan Carr, Reid Harper and Spencer Long, which posted a time of 45.15.

The other winners included Carr in the 400, with a time of 52.7, Joel Amstutz in the 1600 in 4:41, and Long in the 200, hitting the line in 23.3.
