The Shalom Lady Flames traveled to Harrisburg Monday night to face the Steel High Lady Steam Rollers. They came home with a 48-30 victory.
The Flames came out strong, surging to a 9-0 lead early in the first quarter. However, a quick 7-point response by Olivia Clouser of Steel High narrowed the gap, and the Flames ended the first quarter with a slim 13-11 lead. The Rollers briefly tied the game at 13 before the Flames tightened their defense and began to regain control. By halftime, the Flames led by 9 points.
Despite the Rollers’ efforts to chip away at the deficit in the third quarter, the Flames steadily widened their lead, going up by 13 points by the end of the period. The Flames’ offense finally found its rhythm in the fourth quarter, pulling away for a comfortable 18-point win.
Though the Flames weren’t as sharp as they would have liked, their tenacity on defense made the difference. They disrupted passing lanes and forced the Rollers out of their comfort zone throughout the game. Addison Adams led the scoring with 16 points, while Emily Rebok contributed 10 points, along with strong defensive play. Maya Lehman added 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, showcasing her all-around effort. Sydney Moore chipped in 5 points, and it was great to see Kaitlyn Thomas back on the court—she scored 5 points in her return.
It was a solid win for the Lady Flames, who now sit second in District 3 AA. Up next, they face the Linville Hill Lady Warriors, currently ranked first in District 3 A, at home on Tuesday at 5:45 PM. Come out and enjoy what promises to be an exciting basketball matchup!
