BOYS SOCCER
Shippensburg 5, Greencastle-Antrim 2: The Greyhounds scored 3 goals in a row and the Blue Devils could not catch up in a Mid Penn Colonial contest at Kaley Field on Wednesday evening.
G-A (3-7, 3-5 MPC) scored first, on a shot by Cooper Noblit. Then Ship (7-2, 6-2 MPC)) garnered three goals before Nolan Sullivan kicked in a free kick from 40-plus yards out to make it 3-2.
“We had them on their heels at that points,” Greencastle coach Tim Carey said. “But we had to push up in an effort to tie it and it bit us. We’ll eventually put all of the pieces together. The boys did not quit — they just had a lot of things not go their way tonight.”
The teams were nearly equal in shots (G-A 14-13) and corner kicks (Ship 4-3). Blue Devil keeper Joe Lofton made 6 saves.
