Blazer girls score first 11 points in victory

The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers scored the game’s first 11 points and defeated Bishop Walsh of Cumberland, Md., 38-25 in a non-league girls basketball game Tuesday.

“Our defense was really what won the game for us,” Blazers coach Corey Collins said. “We were able to make them uncomfortable all game. Makenna (Morris) and Victoria (Price) played great, especially in the first quarter.”

By the end of the first period, the Blazers (2-1) held a 15-2 lead. They posted subsequent quarter advantages of 25-12 and 31-20.

Price (13 points) and Morris (12) scored in double figures for the Blazers. Sydney Wiegand added seven points and Julia Waltz contributed six.
