Chambersburg roundup: Volleyball team conquers Altoona

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, Altoona 1: The Trojans defeated the Mountain Lions for the second time this season, winning a Mid Penn Commonwealth match on Wednesday night at CASHS Field House.

The game scores were 25-13, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-20.

“We played pretty well tonight and it was good to see the girls bounce back after a second-set loss,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. “This group has a lot of potential and we’re beginning to play with a sense of confidence.”

Addi Kegerreis had a monster game at the net, putting down 25 kills, and she added 14 digs. Marah Lehman led in service points with 16, and had 9 kills and 13 digs.

Also for the Trojans (5-8, 3-4 MPC), Paige Davis rolled up 42 assists and had 11 points, Karley Skultety had 9 points and led with 27 digs, Alayna Jones had 9 points and she and Nizaya Hawkins each had a block.

Central Dauphin 5, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans ended their dual meet season with a Mid Penn Commonwealth loss to the Rams in Harrisburg.

Chambersburg finished with one of its better seasons in the past few years, with a record ot 7-8 (3-4 MPC). The Trojans were without No. 2 singles player Charlie Kalathas on Wednesday.

No. 1 singles player Sarah Vessah had the closest match, playing strong against Katie Berra before falling 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

Marley Christopher, moving up to No. 2, fell 6-2, 6-0, and Ashlee Barrett, up from doubles, lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.
