Last week: The Trojans (3-3, 1-2 MPC), who are ranked No. 9 in the District 3 Class 6A power rankings, were run over by Cumberland Valley, 35-20 … Altoona (2-4, 0-3 MPC) fell at Harrisburg, 54-7.
The opponent: The Mountain Lions employ a ground-oriented, triple-option offense, with 1,100 yards gained so far (183 per game), which could be bad news for the Trojans, who gave up over 300 yards last week … The leading ballcarrier is fullback Bron Mosley, with 69 carries for 509 yards (7.4 avg.) and 7 TDs … Josiah Treece adds 23 carries for 160 yards … Quarterback Brennen Freiwald has completed 30 of his 60 passes for 402 yards, 5 TDs and 6 interceptions … The leading receiver is Mark Harrington (9-49).
Coach’s view: “With their scheme on offense, they want to pound it inside with the dive and if you can’t stop it, you’re in trouble,” Chambersburg coach Mark Luther said. “If you stop it, the QB can pull it out and run it or pitch it. It truly is assignment football for the defense. If everybody does their job, you can stop it. On defense, they have a few big guys in the interior that can clog things up. Overall, we match up pretty well with them, especially at the skill positions. Unfortunately, we do have some linemen out with injuries.”
Unsung: Trojan wide receiver Rhaigeon Parker caught 2 passes for 93 yards, including one for a 75-yard touchdown last week against CV … Luther said, “He felt a twinge in his hamstring in the first half, but he battled back and that touchdown gave us the lead.”
Stats: Passing — Riley Harmon 76-127 (60%), 1,012 yards, 8 TDs, 4 int. … Rushing — Imari Watson 35-179, 2 TDs; Antonio Harrison 32-119, 2 TDs; Dayre Senft 41-113, 1 TD … Receiving — Jermere Jones 18-281, 2 TDs; Rhaigeon Parker 18-256, 2 TDs; Trever Luther 18-246, 1 TD; Jake Folmar 15-152, 2 TDs.

Last week: The Blue Devils (5-1, 2-1 MPC), No. 9 in the District 3 Class 5A rankings, took care of business against Northern, 24-14 … The Indians (4-2, 2-1 MPC) , No. 7 in District 3 4A, ran away from Waynesboro in the second half for a 40-21 win.
The opponent: Susquehanna Township has plenty of speed to burn, led by wide receiver Lex Cyrus, the PIAA 100-meter dash champion last spring … Last week, Cyrus caught 9 balls for 96 yards and a score … Quarterback TD Evans threw for 221 yards and 3 TDs on an 18-for-25 performance … Running back Dorian Smith broke loose for 162 yards on just 15 carries and scored 2 TDs.
Coach’s view: “I’m grateful it’s a football game, not a track meet,” quipped Greencastle coach Devin McCauley. “They have a ton of speed and a lot of guys who can make splash plays. They like to put the ball in the hands of those guys in the open field and make you tackle them. We need to know where Cyrus is, but I think the key is stopping Smith, who killed us last year. If he breaks a tackle he can make you pay. The biggest thing for our offense is to keep making first downs and have some long drives. Waynesboro had a great game plan last week and it worked for a half. We have to keep our defense off the field and capitalize on any breaks we get. Susquehanna is a tough out, but they are not unbeatable.”
Unsung: Blue Devil right tackle Sean Hoch (sr., 6-0, 245) was named G-A’s offensive lineman of he game last week … McCauley said, “He has been a very solid and consistent offensive lineman all season.”
Stats: Passing — Logan Alvey 61-90 (68%), 766 yards, 7 TDs, 2 interceptions … Rushing — Xzavier Ramsey 58-348, 2 TDs; Surzano Solomon 27-262, 3 TDs; Carter Coons 29-261, 3 TDs … Receiving — Carter McCauley 20-339, 3 TDs; Garrett Blubaugh 7-94, 1 TD … Tackles — Trent Merrilat 56; Parker Funk 50; JD Flynn 44 … Tackles for loss — Sal Bangura 10; Funk 9 … Sacks — Funk 9, Bangura 6.
