The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers ran their winning streak to six by defeating Carroll Christian 3-0 Monday in a non-league boys soccer game.
The Blazers (8-1-1) scored late in the first half when Finlay Smith crossed a pass to Landon Kellogg, who booted in a shot from just inside the 18-yard line.
One of the key moments occurred early in the second half when Blazer goalkeeper Gabe Beckering batted away a penalty kick to keep the score at 1-0. Beckering wound up with 10 saves.
A few minutes later, Gage Brookens streaked past the defense and drilled a shot into the left corner of the net to make it 2-0.
Preston Conner’s goal from up close made the score 3-0. Kellogg and Thomas Vandersleen added assists for the Blazers.
The Blazers’ defense kept Carroll from having many good scoring chances. The Blazers have allowed only five goals this season.
