Fannett-Metal Shuts Out Forbes Road 10-0

Fannett-Metal(2-0) hosted Forbes Road in an ICC match up and rolled to a 10-0 victory.  The Tiger’s sophomore pitcher Wade Appleby fired a one hitter with 10 strikeouts in the six inning victory.  Appleby gave up his lone hit of the game to Michael Strait in the 5th inning.  “Wade gave us the quality performance we were looking for out of him today”,  Coach Paul Coffman said.  He threw 74 pitches with 50 of them going for strikes.

The Tigers took the lead in the first inning when Landon Arnold singled, stole second and scored on a Wade Appleby double to the fence.  

Forbes Road pitcher David Knepper held the Tigers in check the next two innings before the Tigers added two more runs in the 4th.  Arnold led off the 4th and scored on Appleby’s RBI single.  Appleby then scored on Daxton Detweiler’s squeeze bunt.  

The Tigers added three more runs in the 5th.  Drew Goshorn singled with one out in the 5th, stole second and third and scored on a Jake Coffman sacrifice fly.  Arnold walked and scored on Appleby’ s second double of the game. Adam Hammond then stroked a two out double to the gap to score Appleby.  

The Tigers erupted for four more runs in the 6th to bring on the mercy rule. Noah Naugle walked to lead off the inning and scored on Tucker Seibert’s squeeze bunt.   Jake Coffman’s line drive up the middle plated two more runs and chased Knepper from the game.  Coffman came around to score on a double steal attempt to end the game.  

 The Tigers had 4 doubles in the game and swiped 10 bases. 

The Tigers will host Mcconnellsburg on Thursday at 4:30.
