Carlisle deals Waynesboro second loss of season

The Waynesboro Indians had their 11 game winning streak snapped at Carlisle Tuesday night falling to Thundering Herd 66-55. The Indians fall to 19-2 on the season. Carlisle improves to 13-8 on the season.

Carlisle led at the half 29-28 and outscored Waynesboro 37-27in the second half. Carlisle started to pull away in the third quarter and led by 13 at one point, Waynesboro was able to cut the lead to five in the fourth quarter.

Carlisle was led by Julian Christopher who had a game high 20 points, Jaydon Smith added 18 and Parker Smith 17. The trio accounted for 55 of Carlisle’s 66 points.

The Indians also had three players in double figures led by Ryan Shaffer with 19, Jaylon Bean 13 and Cooper Hough with 11.

Waynesboro fell to Number 4 in the PIAA District 3 6A rankings as of Tuesday night. The top four teams receive a first round bye.

Waynesboro will play at Chambersburg Thursday night to conclude the regular season. Waynesboro is the Colonial Division champion and will play State College the Commonwealth champion in the Mid Penn Conference Tournament Tuesday February 14 at a site to be determined.

Carlisle closes out the regular season at Chambersburg Monday February 13.
