G-A roundup: Blue Devil girls rout ‘Boro; Indians win boys game

Greencastle-Antrim 53, Waynesboro 18: Rylee Henson and Mia Libby were 9-for-14 from beyond the arc to lead the Blue Devils to an easy home win over the Maidens on Friday night.

Greencastle (19-1, 13-1 MPC) clinched a tie with Northern York for the Mid Penn Colonial division title, and will represent the division in the Mid Penn playoffs, based on a higher District 3 ranking (G-A is ranked No. 1 in Class 5A).

For the game, G-A hit on 11 of 24 on 3-point shots and used a smothering man-to-man defense to stymie Waynesboro (7-13).

The Maidens got all 7 of their points in the first quarter from Kiki Pryor and trailed only 11-7. But an 18-5 advantage in the second sent the Blue Devils on their way.
The second half highlight came when Libby generated a deflection, then completed the steal by leaping out of bounds and saving the ball by throwing a 45-foot pass downcourt to a streaking Henson for a layup.
Henson had a career-high 23 points; while Libby piled up 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals2 charges taken.
Also, Haley Noblit had 5 points, 3 assists and 5 steals, and Kylie Kerns had 5 points and 5 boards.

Waynesboro 56, Greencastle-Antrim 28: The Indians completely dominated the Blue Devils in the first period, outscoring them 23-3, and eased to a Mid Penn Colonial victory Friday night in Waynesboro.

The Indians are 19-1, have clinched the Colonial division title, and are ranked No. 3 in District 3 Class 6A. Greencastle falls to 13-7 (10-4 MPC) and had a three-game win streak halted.

Waynesboro bombed in five 32-pointers in the first period, including two by Michael Young. He ended up with four threes and totaled 16 points, while Ryan Schaffer matched him with 16, Tanyon Shaull had 12 and Jaylon Bean 10.

For the Blue Devils, Eli Sterling was the top scorer with 8 points and Blake Shadoan had 6.
