BOYS BASKETBALL
State College 57, Chambersburg 49: Tied after three quarters, the Little Lions outscored the Trojans 18-10 in the final 8 minutes and earned a Mid Penn Commonwealth win Friday night in State College.
“Down the stretch, they executed at an extremely high level, which is indicative of their experience and connectedness as a senior-oriented team,” Chambersburg coach Shawn Shreffler said.
Sedrick Vessah led the Trojans (7-3, 3-2 MPC) with 16 points (8 in the second quarter), while Jacob Bassham totaled 14 (10 in the second half). Treyton Sarvis scored 10 points, 5 more than his previous career high.
Shreffler said, “We’re not there yet, but took a couple of steps forward tonight against a really good team. We have a lot of season left to grow even more ourselves.”
For State College (11-1, 5-0 MPC), Braeden Shrewsberry, son of Penn State coach Micah Shrewsberry, scored 25 points and Isaac Dye had 17.
Chambersburg hosts the Dunks for Drew showcase on Saturday, with Greencastle-Antrim playing Boiling Springs at 6, followed by Shippensburg vs. Chambersburg.

State College 53, Chambersburg 27: The Little Lions held the Trojans to just 8 points in the middle two quarters and pulled away for a Mid Penn Commonwealth win at CASHS Field House on Friday night.
For the Trojans (2-9, 1-4 MPC), Lily Cornwell and Ella Parker each scored 6 points to lead the way.
Chambersburg made only 10 of 24 free throws.
For State College (4-5, 2-1 MPC), Carley Donnell posted 18 points.
