Chambersburg roundup: Volleyball team downs Altoona

Chambersburg 3, Altoona 1: The Trojans reversed an earlier result against the Mountain Lions by pulling off a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory on Monday night in Altoona.

Chambersburg (2-9, 1-6 MPC) scored wins in the first two games (25-22, 25-20), dropped the third 25-18, but bounced back to handle Altoona 25-15 in the fourth to end the match. The Mountain Lions had won in September over the Troians, 3-1.

“We did a good job tonight of putting a full match together,” Trojan coach Ty Frelin said. “Hopefully this is the start of a solid finish to our season.

“We did well at keeping them out of rhythm and we did a good job defensively. Great match.”

Kate Etter led her team in blocks with 15 and service points with 11, and she added 13 digs. Paige Davis racked up 11 points, 17 assists and 15 digs.

Also for the Trojans, Ashli Ganoe had 17 assists and 10 points, Kayla Hanna had 9 kills and 2 blocks, Morgan Stockslager put down 11 kills, Karley Skultety led with 17 digs, and Cara Bratthauer and Addi Kegerreis each blocked 2 balls.

Susquehanna Township 2, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans were defeated in a non-league contest at Trojan Stadium on Monday night by the Indians.

Chambersburg is now 3-10; Susquehanna Twp. is 7-2.
