G-A roundup: Big 2nd period lifts Blue Devils over McConnellsburg

Greencastle-Antrim 70, McConnellsburg 61: The Blue Devils produced five players with at least 8 points Wednesday night and that helped produce a non-league road victory over the Spartans.

McConnellsburg, which began the season 5-0, is now 6-3. The Spartans led 13-9 after one quarter, but Greencastle (3-10) had a huge second-quarter advantage (24-9) to take control. Wyatt Hershey scored 14 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth period to try to spur a McConnellsburg comeback.

For the Blue Devils, Conner Wright led with 14 points, but Surzano Solomon and Logan Alvey each had career-high totals of 12, including Alvey’s four 3-pointers. In addition, Eli Sterling scored 10 and Bobby Emberson 8.

Also for the Spartans, Kole Truax scored 11 points and had 6 rebounds, Landon Ramsey added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists, Kamren Walls contributed 7 points and 4 rebounds, Logan Hoffman had 4 points and 4 assists, Kyle Romig had 10 rebounds and 7 assists with his 3 points and Hershey also had 4 boards and 2 assists.
