The District 3 playoffs for boys and girls soccer and girls volleyball get cranked up this coming week and seven Franklin County teams will be competing.
Greencastle-Antrim earned the top seed in Class 3A in girls soccer. The Blue Devils (17-1) will host No. 16 Cocalico (9-8) on Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Kaley Field. The winner plays the winner between No. 9 Solanco (13-4) at (8) Lampeter-Strasburg (12-6).
Chambersburg qualified in 4A girls soccer as the 15th seed. The Trojans (7-9-2) play Tuesday at No. 2 Manheim Township (13-2) at 4 p.m. The winner of No. 7 Ephrata (14-3) vs. No. 10 Cumberland Valley (8-5-3) awaits.
In boys soccer, No. 9 Chambersburg (10-5-1) takes a road trip to play No. 8 Northeastern (14-3-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The winner will play either No. 1 Central Dauphin (16-0) or No. 16 Elizabethtown (6-7-3).
Girls volleyball features a local matchup in the first round in Class 3A. James Buchanan (13-3), the No. 4 seed, will host No. 13 Greencastle (11-7) on Thursday at 7. The Rockets have two wins this season over the Blue Devils. The winner will play either No. 8 Twin Valley (15-4) or No. 9 Daniel Boone (9-8).
In Class 4A volleyball, No. 15 Chambersburg (10-7) faces a tough out in No. 2 Hempfield (14-0) on the road Thursday at 7 p.m. At the same time, No. 10 Waynesboro (14-5) will play at No. 7 Hershey (12-1). The winners of the two matches will play each other.
