SHIPPENSBURG- Shippensburg ran their record to 9-0 with a 21-6 win over visiting East Pennsboro on Friday night.  The Greyhounds weren’t perfect, but shutout the Panthers in the second half for win number nine.

East Penn jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on the strength of two field goals, but the Greyhounds took over after that.  The Panthers took the opening kick and drove 55 yards in 14 plays to set up Dakota Campbell’s 42 yard field goal.  The Panthers caught the Hounds off guard by going shot gun and five wide, but the Hounds stiffened inside their own territory to force the field goal.

The Hounds looked to answer, but a lost fumble on their sixth play gave East Penn the ball at the Ship 43.  Ship’s defense held again and Smith nailed a 36 yarder early in the second for a 6-0 lead.

It did not take the Hounds long to get the lead for good.  Shippensburg answered in six plays going 57 yards starting in the air.  Tucker Chamberlin and Erby Weller hooked up on back to back plays for 18 and 21 yards down to the East Penn 18.  Anthony smith capped off the drive with a two yard touchdown run and Noah Henry added the PAT for the 7-6 lead.

A seven play 71 yard drive put the Hounds up 14-6.  Amari Kerr sprinted in from 32 yards out for the score.

The Hounds took the second half kicked and drove to the East Penn six before losing their second fumble.  Shippensburg got the ball back and put up their third score a 23 yard spectacular run by Traevon Kater from 23 yards out for the 21-6 lead.

The Hounds defense took over and East Penn never threatened.  Up next for the Hounds will be Greencastle at home to finish off the regular season.

Connor Foust and Jason Funxon lead the Hounds with 10 tackles each, Smith added seven with two for loss.  Foust recovered a fumble and Austin Kelso had an interception.

On the offense Kerr ran for 93, Kater 87 and Chamberlin passed for 72 (58 to Weller).  The Hounds outrushed EP 230-137 and total yards 302-201.
