Chambersburg roundup: Trojans beaten 3-1 by Colts in volleyball

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Cedar Cliff 3, Chambersburg 1: The Colts kept the pressure on the Trojans for most of the night and came away with a Mid Penn Commonwealth road win Monday evening at CASHS Field House.

The Trojans (1-2, 1-2 MPC) won the first game 27-25, but Cedar Cliff came back to win the next three, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-15.

“We faced a real solid Cedar Cliff team, and they played with more determination and intensity than we did,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. “They didn’t make many mistakes and they kept us out of system a lot. We were constantly fighting from behind and we just didn’t have anyone step up.”

Kate Etter  led in service points (11) and assists (17) for the Trojans, and Morgan Stockslager led in blocks (2) and kills (11).

Also, Raelyn Johnson had 6 points, 8 kills and 25 digs, Ashli Ganoe had 5 points and 12 assists, Trinity Rivera knocked down 9 kills and had 13 digs and Emily Marquez piled up 29 digs.

GIRLS TENNIS
Carlisle 5, Chambersburg 0: The Trojans took only match to three sets and were defeated by Carlisle in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match on the road Monday.

At No. 2 doubles, Sophie Forrester and Grace Fiegl lost 6-0 to the Herd’s Morgan Pontius and Lily Kuhn, then came back and took a 6-4 win in set 2. But the Carlisle duo were victorious 6-3 in the deciding set.

In singles for Chambersburg (2-6, 1-2 MPC), Sarah Vessah played a close first set before falling 7-5, 6-0, and at No. 3, Avery Wissinger won a total of five points.
