G-A roundup: Soccer teams split with West Perry

Mia Libby

GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 5, West Perry 1: Mia Libby returned to the lineup and made a big impact, scoring 2 goals to lead the Blue Devils over West Perry in a Mid Penn Colonial game Tuesday night.

The other goal scorers for G-A (3-1, 2-0 MPC) were Haley Noblit, Courtney Andruczk and Olivia Russell. Avery Parks contributed a pair of assists, while Madison Koons and Brooke Guthrie each had one.

Greencastle coach Chris Noblit said, “Mia led the way in her first game back since Sept. 4.  She gave us some much-needed energy. Freshman Lexi Nelson has a second stellar game in the goal with two saves and no goals allowed.  She started the game and played deep into the second half.”

Cale Stover

BOYS SOCCER
West Perry 2, Greencastle-Antrim 0: Dante Beddia scored a goal in each half to help the Mustangs defeat the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial game Tuesday night.

Greencastle coach Aric Bruner said, “Tonight was a much better showing. We are a very young team (seven players earning their first varsity experience) this year and we had changed our formation going into this, only our second, game. Cale Stover and Austin Wenger played a heck of a game defending Beddia. Caleb Baine won a ton of 50/50 balls. I’m hoping we can build off of this performance and start putting together our game in the finishing third now. I’m proud of the growth through these first two games, though. ”

Gavin Davidson made 6 saves in goal for the Blue Devils (0-2, 0-2 MPC).
