Chambersburg roundup: X-C teams cruise past Huskies

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 17, Mifflin County 42: The Trojans put six runners in the top seven finishers on Tuesday and handled the Huskies a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat.

The top three were Nick Monheim (17:10), Ben Colli (17:11) and Ari Snyder (17:26. After Chris Royer broke up the bunch for Mifflin County, Chambersburg’s Zack Yourkavitch (17:53), Karter Reath (18:02) and Billy Prentice (18:10) crossed the line.

The Trojans are 3-0 (3-0 MPC).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 37, Mifflin County 24: The Huskies gave the Trojans a battle, but Chambersburg’s depth was a big factor in a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Tuesday afternoon on the road.

Mifflin County’s Kylee Cubbison won the race in 19:44, and teammate Addie Parsons placed third. Olivia Rieck of the Trojans (3-0, 3-0 MPC) finished between them in 21:47.

Chambersburg then had the next 14 runners cross the finish line, including Hailey Short (22:51), Emma Grove (23:15), Lexi Boyd (23:37), Camy Kiser (23:37) and Jocelyn Shields (23:49).

BOYS GOLF
Bassham shoots good round: Chambersburg competed in a boys match at Sportsman’s Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon and the team placed fourth.

Jacob Bassham put together a very consistent round to pace the Trojans (7-12-1). Bassham fired a 4-over par 75 (nines of 37-38) for his best round of the season, a round that included 15 pars, two bogeys and a double bogey on No. 1.

Also for Chambersburg, Jeremy Otto (83, 2 birdies) was 18th, Teegan Humelsine (87, 1 birdie) tied for 22nd, Brennan Sease and Ryan Corwell tied for 24th with 93s, and Dru Bowling shot 95 for 37th.
