G-A roundup: X-C team competes in Virginia

CROSS COUNTRY
Paci places high: Greencastle-Antrim traveled to Tuscarora, Va. to compete in the Oatlands Invitational on Saturday and Claire Paci earned the Blue Devils’ highest finish.

Paci took sixth place in the girls varsity race with a time of 18:46. Juliette Whittaker of Mount De Sales Academy crossed the line first in 17:58.

Also for the Blue Devils, Katharine Board was the next-highest finisher, timing in at 22:16 to place 106th.

For the G-A boys, Dalton Noblit took 31st place in 17:18 and Caden Hudson was next in 65th place in 17:50.

GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 2, Boiling Springs 1: The Blue Devils played their first Mid Penn Colonial game of the season and edged the Bubblers. G-A is 2-1 (1-0 MPC).

Haley Noblit scored a goal for Greencastle and added an assist on Courtney Andruczk’s goal. Avery Parks assisted on the other goal and goalkeeper Lexi Nelson entered the game and was credited with four saves.

Boiling Springs 7, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Bubblers captured a Mid Penn Colonial win over the Blue Devils in G-A’s first game of the season Saturday morning.

Theo Gerald-Oreste scored the goal for Greencastle and Garrett Decker had the assist. Goalkeeper Gavin Davidson made 9 saves for the Blue Devils.

FIELD HOCKEY
Greencastle-Antrim 1, Camp Hill 0: Louise Narducci knocked in an unassisted goal just two minutes from the end of regulation to lift the Blue Devils to a non-league victory over the Lions on Saturday evening.

“Today we played as a team from the beginning of the game to the end of the game,” G-A coach Emiley Filepas said. “It was nice to see a solid intense 60 minutes of hockey.”

The Blue Devils are 3-1.
