Chambersburg 3, Altoona 1: The Trojans fell behind the host Mountain Lions with a 23-25 defeat in the first game of their Mid Penn Commonwealth match Tuesday night.
But Chambersburg, now 7-3 (7-3 MPC) with its fifth straight win, took the next three games, 25-22, 30-28 and 25-17.
“This certainly was not our best match, but we played through it and made the plays when we needed to,” Trojan coach Ty Frelin said.
Willa Moats had a big hand in the win, putting up 11 service points, 4 aces, 17 assists and 17 digs. Robyn Stepler was prolific on the stat sheet, too, with 3 blocks, 9 kills and 25 assists. Raelyn Johnson led the team in points with 15 (3 aces) and in digs with 20. Kate Etter had 10 points, 3 aces and 13 digs; Rachael Meyers had 3 blocks and 11 kills and Sadie Stockslager added 8 kills.
Frelin said, “Altoona didn’t make many mistakes, and they forced us to play defense. This was a good win for us.”
