The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers got off to a fast start and defeated New Life Christian 11-0 in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game Tuesday.
The Blazers (6-1, 4-1 MDCC) sent five goals into the net before the first 20 minutes had expired. They led 6-0 at halftime and kept up the pressure in the second half with a mixture of starters and subs.
“We came out strong,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “We just had too much power and depth for the Rams. We were able to get the whole team in to play. Our underclassmen were able to see lots of field time.”
Multiple Blazers got into the scoring column, led by junior Wyatt Pine with five goals. Josh Rowe, Mario Wiesman, Max Crawford, Elijah Randolph, Isaac Kauffeldt and Evan Statler also found the net for the Blazers.
Pine also had three assists, and Rowe and Noah Randolph added two assists apiece. Also getting assists were Blaine Minnier, Samuel Shunk, Caleb Eckert and Ryan Winters.
The Blazer defense kept New Life from getting any good scoring chances, and goalkeeper Gabe Beckering made four saves.
