CRESAPTOWN, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers couldn’t climb out of a first-half deficit and lost a 2-1 decision to Calvary Christian Friday in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game.
The Blazers (1-1, 0-1 MDCC) gave up a pair of first-half goals. Conner O’Brien and Luke Reed scored for Calvary to give the Eagles a 2-0 halftime margin.
“We came out slow and undisciplined,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “We let Calvary break through our defense and score two goals. We tightened up at half and had some very good plays during the second half.”
The Blazers trimmed the deficit in half on a corner kick as Caleb Eckert headed Noah Randolph’s kick into the net.
Calvary outshot the Blazers 20-13. Goalkeeper Gabe Beckering made 18 saves for the Blazers.
