Susquenita 1 Forbes Road 0 OT
Waterfall, Pa. – The Forbes Road field hockey team (9-2) suffered a tough sudden death overtime loss to the visiting Susquenita Blackhawks on Wednesday afternoon. Both teams showed up ready to play and gave those in attendance a nail biter of a match. The Cardinals gained a slight edge early by charging downfield and earning a couple of penalty corners. A tough Blackhawk defense denied the attacking Cardinals’ attempted shots. Although the Blackhawks would remain without a single penalty corner or an attempted shot in the first half their hard free hits kept the Cardinals moving and busy in the midfield. At the midway point the score remained 0-0.
The second half proved to be more of the same. The Cardinals would rally and then the Blackhawks would rally in return. Unsuccessful shot attempts from both teams down the stretch would eventually result in a 15 minute, reduced player (8 per side), sudden death overtime period.
Reducing sides from 11 to 8 players allowed both teams to spread out and work the ball to their respective goals numerous times. With time dwindling to just under three minutes left in the OT period the Blackhawks took one final run at goal. A recovering Cardinal team gave it all they had, but Regan Horting was able to launch a hard shot from the right side just inside the circle to score and end the game.
Shots on Goal: FR 6, S 2

The Cardinals are back in action Thursday as they travel to take on Mercersburg Academy. Game time is 5 pm.
