Chambersburg 3, Susquehannock 1: The Trojans had a lapse in the second game, but were able to handle non-league opponent Susquehannock in a match Thursday evening.
Chambersburg won 25-13 in the first, went down 18-25 in the second, but then won 25-17 and 25-18 to close it out.
“We played around with the lineups and got some different people some touches,” Trojan coach Marta Helfrick said. “We could have cleaned some up throughout the match, but we will take the W.”
Chambersburg (6-4) got big games from outside hitters Josiah Picard (15 kills) and Steven Swain (14). Jaylen Thomas had four blocks and three block kills.
Assists were spread out between Trey Stepler (19), Kyle Ganoe (15) and Spencer Rajtik (14), and Swain (22) and Picard (13) were the leaders in digs.

Mackenzie Stake
SOFTBALL
Chambersburg 1, Central York 0: Mackenzie Stake hurled a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks to blank the Panthers in a non-league game Thursday and the Trojans scratched out a run in the third inning.
In the third, Taylor Myers singled and stole second base for Chambersburg (8-1). Kirsten Johnson’s bunt produced an overthrow at first base and Myers steamed home.
Trojan coach Chris Skultety said, “We had runners on second and third with one out in the first, third, fourth and fifth, and the bases loaded in the fifth with two outs, but didn’t score — we either struck out or hit a weak pop-up.
“We are struggling with situational hitting right now. All we needed was a ground ball to short or second. We’re are not making quality outs.”
Myers and Kara Neidigh were both 2-for-3 and Brooklyn Miller had a base hit.
Central York (6-7) had two hits and a walk in the fifth, but Stake wiggled out of it with two strikeouts, and had a two-out double in the seventh.
“Mack was magnificent today — she controlled the whole game, not allowing a hit until the fifth,” Skultety said. “We needed every bit of what she provided today.”
