CHAMBERSBURG — Not surprisingly, the warm temperatures on Saturday brought out the best from the hundreds of athletes at the 14th annual Tim Cook Invitational.
Five boys meet records were broken, and the girls broke one record and tied another on a warm and breezy day at Trojan Stadium.
Athletes from six area schools produced one champion for the boys and one relay victory for the girls, both by Chambersburg.
Another 10 events had local runners-up and nine more had third-place finishes by locals.
The Trojan girls’ 4 x 100 relay won its race in 50.61, with Bre’ya Clopper leading off, followed by Aniyah Jones, Sydnie Gilbert and Shanelle Burrowes.
In the boys shot put, Brock Harmon posted a distance of 50-5 on his third throw and nobody else got within 2 1/2 feet.
Harmon also placed second in the discus (133-3), Burrowes was the runner-up in the 200 (26.82) and Clopper took second in the 300 hurdles (47.43).
Ashley Adams was the other Chambersburg girl to earn a second with her effort of 103-9 in the discus.

Tyeshawn Worrell of Chambersburg, third from the left, placed second in the boys 100 Saturday at the Tim Cook Invitational with a time of 11.14.
For the Trojan boys, Tyeshawn Worrell posted 11.14 to take second in a spirited 100 — first place was 11.13 and third was also 11.14. He also led off the 4 x 400 team that placed second in 3:29.64; he was followed by Donovan Moses, Nate Cooper and Diontae Barbour.
Worrell continued his busy and successful day with a third place in the long jump (21-1.75) and helped the 4 x 100 relay team to a third-place finish in 43.52. He anchored, with Jayden Jones, Karter Jones and Jonathan Jeffrey going ahead of him.
Trentin Overcash had a nice day — he was second in the 800 in 2:01.0 and third in the 1600 in 4:33.94.
Three other area boys earned silver medals — Kevin Doyle of Shippensburg in the high jump (6-4, lost on number of misses); Waynesboro’s E.J. Miller in the javelin (164-4) and Mercersburg Academy’s Alonzo Coleman in the long jump (21-5.5).
Chambersburg’s girls posted a quartet of third-place finishes, including Madison Yost in the shot put (31-8.5), Ainslee Ackerman in the pole vault (9-0), Maddie Kinton in the 400 (1:01.28) and the 4 x 800 team of Anna DeGrange, Allison List, Kinton and Keira Whitehead (10:16.02).
Waynesboro’s Leann Nabua picked up a third in the high jump at 5-0, while Kevin Suero of Ship placed third in the boys triple jump with a leap of 44-8.75.
