Spring Grove 15, Chambersburg 9: The Trojans played in their closest game of the season Friday, falling to Spring Grove in a non-league game.
“We were up against a very tough team and we held our own,” Chambersburg coach Keara Allshouse said. “We played hard. We played a clean game and had our best passing, shots, offensive ball handling, communication and defense to date.”
Emma Grimm posted a career-high four goals for the Trojans (0-4), and Ashley Bawell scored twice. Three players scored one goal each: Taylor Pearce, Ashlyn Bothe and Ashlyn Barton.
Allshouse said, “Taylor had her first varsity goal tonight off of a stunning cut. The girls played their best and stayed professional. They represented Chambersburg in a respectful way and I couldn’t be more proud.”

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, Carlisle 0: The Trojans won games of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-23 over the Herd in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match Thursday. Chambersburg is 1-1 (1-1 MPC).
Trojan coach Marta Helfrick said, “It was nice to get in and out in three games. We were a little slow at times, but a win is nice after Tuesday’s tough match.”
Treyton Stepler had a good all-around game with eight kills, nine digs and nine service points. Wes Newman was tough with his serves, getting four aces and 10 points, and Spencer Rajtik had 22 kill assists and five digs.
Also for Chambersburg, William Simmers had six kills and five block kills, Jaylen Thomas and Josiah Picard each had six kills, Steven Swain made three blocks and Colton Wright led in serving with 11 points.
