Ed Gotwals was honored with the Pennsylvania Wrestling Roundup Award for Media Excellence at the PIAA Wrestling championships at the Giant Center in Hershey. Gotwals was presented the award by Craig Helmuth, Chambersburg’s first state champion in wrestling (1974), and Pennsylvania Wrestling Roundup editor Norm Palovcik.

Gotwals covered wrestling for 41 years for the Public Opinion and the last two years for TheSportsPage.blog. and was nominated for the award by Rod Frisco, former PennLive sports writer, and now the District 3 webmaster.
