McConnellsburg 43 Forbes Road 40

Waterfall, Pa. – McConnellsburg (5-13, 4-9 ICC) made the short drive to Forbes Road (4-14, 0-13 ICC) and gave the fans their money’s worth in this County/League rivalry. Even though the Cardinals led through the first three quarters, a big fourth quarter propelled the Spartans to a 43 to 40 victory. Quincy McMath led the Cardinals with 20 points and Emma Gelvin added 12. Lainnie Glenn led the Spartans with 13 points, including 10 points in the fourth quarter. Matty Ross added 12 points, including four three pointers. Forbes Road Coach Jamie Gelvin commented, “We started strong, but Matty Ross got hot in the second quarter and shot them back in the game. (9 in the second). The fourth quarter Lainnie Glenn took over and absolutely killed us. We were up 3 going into the 4th and she all but outscored us herself.  (FR 11 in 4th, Glenn 10). On the positive side, Quincy McMath played her best game of the season and Emma Gelvin really shot the ball well. We, unfortunately, just came up a little short. We got an open look at a three as time expired, but it rattled out.  It’s tough to win a game when you miss 14 free throws.  Much better effort tonight compared to last week though.” JV – FR 32 MHS 29 (FR – Hannah Skiles 15 points, MHS Kendyl Truax 10 points) Forbes Road travels to Fannett Metal on Friday and McConnellsburg travels to Shalom Christian Academy on Thursday.
