The James Buchanan Lady Rockets got off to a slow start and the end result was a 53-27 loss to Everett in a non-league girls basketball game Saturday night.

JB (8-7) managed only 14 first-half points and 3 in the final quarter. Everett meanwhile scored at least 12 points in each quarter including 15 in the first. Everett’s Kaitlyn Maxwell led all scorers with 20 points.

“We got beat in transition a lot and we could not contain Maxwell,” JB coach Jenny Lauthers said. “We played hard, but couldn’t seem to get shots to fall when we needed it.”

Reilly Heinbaugh led the Lady Rockets with 10 points.
