The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers built a 3-0 halftime lead and defeated Shalom Christian 5-0 Friday in a weather-shortened Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game.
Kenneth Hott, who was selected to a high school All-American soccer team last year, drilled in four goals to lead the Blazers (6-1, 5-0 MDCC).
CVCS opened the scoring 11 minutes into the first half when Triston Horn, who normally plays defense, moved up and headed in a ball from Noah Randolph. Hott then made it 3-0 later in the half on assists from Ryan Winters and Jimmy Hong at 27 and 28 minutes.
In the second half, Eli Black, who played goalkeeper in the first half and made a pair of saves, was moved up front and assisted Hott on two quick strikes that made the score 5-0 only a few minutes into the half.
The game was then stopped because of the threat of severe weather and was not resumed.
“Shalom had no way of controlling All-American Kenneth Hott,” CVCS coach Stan Hott said. “Kenneth was the man of the match.”
The Blazers outshot Shalom 20-2 and had four corners to Shalom’s one. In their six victories, five of which have been shutouts, they have outscored their opponents 44-1.
