Southern Fulton (13-4, 9-3 SHL, 8-3 ICC) traveled to McConnellsburg (4-14, 1-11 SHL, 1-9 ICC) and came away with a 53-36 league win. Lindsey Hollenshead led the Lady Indians with a double double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. Drew Gordon contributed 9 points and 9 rebounds, Ava Hull had 9 points, while Jessie Covalt and Kierstyn Morton had 7 points apiece. The Lady Spartans were led by Katelyn Truax who scored 16 points, had 4 blocks, 3 steals and 12 rebounds. Mattalynn Ross scored 8 points, had 5 assists and 8 rebounds. Kellyn Perry scored 6 points, 2 blocks and 5 rebounds. Southern Fulton Coach Meagan Mellott commented, “We played great team basketball last night. Our major focus was using our size to win rebounds, and we did. Lindsey pushed the ball and ran the floor really well last night, which was also a key to our success.” JV SF 35 MHS 32 Aleah Lynch scored 10 points and Izabella Keefer scored 9 points for the Lady Spartans. McConnellsburg travels to Tussey Mountain on February 6. Southern Fulton will host Claysburg in non league action on February 3.
Fannett Metal 52 Forbes Road 37
Forbes Road (3-13, 2-11 SHL, 1-10 ICC) hosted league rival Fannett Metal (10-7, 9-5 SHL, 7-5 ICC) and fell to the Lady Tigers 52-37. Maddy Miller led FR with 16 points, Quincy McMath added 8 points and Kyra Duvall pulled down 16 rebounds. Ally Hoffman led Fannett Metal with 11, Taylor Coffman and Morgan Ritchey both added 10. Lady Cardinal Coach Jamie Gelvin commented, “Fannett Metal is a good team and showed it tonight. Ally Hoffman is a great player and controls the flow of the game. Our kids fought hard but couldn’t get it done. I was proud of our effort tonight.” JV FM 21 – FR 18 Lynn McClure led FM with 11 and Hannah Skiles led FR with 10. Fannett Metal will travel to Shalom Christian on February 5, while Forbes Road will host Mount Union on Friday, February 2.
