Blazers fall to Frederick team

The Frederick Warriors pulled away from Cumberland Valley Christian in the third quarter and defeated the Blazers 61-41 in a non-league boys basketball game Thursday evening.

The Blazers (6-13) trailed 33-26 at the half and pulled within six points early in the third quarter before the Warriors bolted to a 53-34 advantage by the end of the period.

Freshman Blaine Minnier led the Blazers with 13 points, and he pulled down nine rebounds. Senior Jesus Pena scored 10 points, freshman Caleb Eckert contributed nine points and team highs in rebounds (10) and assists (six), and junior Nathan Statler scored nine points.

For the Warriors, a home-school organization, Noah Passerelli scored 27 points and cracked the 2,000-point barrier for his career.

The Blazers play at home this evening against Heritage in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference game.
