Chambersburg roundup 2/1: Girls basketball picks up victory

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Chambersburg 56, Newport 49: Chambersburg’s strength inside and outside proved to be decisive Thursday night as the Trojans earned a non-league victory at Newport.

Taylor Vrabel scored 16 points, within one point of her season high, and Ashley Adams also put up 11 points. Gabby Lecuona hit three of her team’s eight 3-pointers and had 9 points for Chambersburg (7-13).

The 56 points was the Trojans’ season high. Chambersburg scored at least 10 points in each quarter, and used a 15-4 advantage in the first quarter to take control.
