Trojans’ Luke Nichter reaches semifinals

HOLLAND — Chambersburg sophomore Luke Nichter earned three victories Saturday and will wrestle in the semifinals of the Escape the Rock Tournament at Council Rock South on Sunday morning.

Nichter, the fourth seed, will take on No. 1 seed Jackson Turley of St. Christopher’s, Va. in the semis.

On Saturday, Nichter scored a pin in 1:48 in the first round, a 15-3 major decision in the second round, then picked up a 9-2 decision over A.J. Lonski of Delbarton, N.J.

By the end of Saturday, Tate Nichter (145) and Drake Brenize (152) were still alive in the consolation brackets. They will wrestle Sunday in the 4th consolation round, needing one more victory to earn a top-eight place.

In the second round, Tate Nichter took on No. 1 seed P.J. Crane of Malvern Prep and gave him a battle before falling, 5-3, via a takedown with less than 20 seconds left. Brenize fell 3-1 to Luca Frinzi of Bethlehem Catholic on a takedown in the final 30 seconds in the same round.
