Shippensburg Boys Basketball

The Greyhounds traveled to Gettysburg for the Gettysburg Tip-off tournament and returned home with a split, losing to Lancaster Mennonite 66-60 and edging host  Gettysburg 65-49 in the consolation contest.

Shippensburg led the majority of the game on opening night but couldn’t hold off the Blazers over the final quarter. Carter Van Scyoc led the Greyhounds with 19 points, hitting 9 of 10 foul shots. Alaric Hickman drilled three shots from behind the arc en route to 15 points. Adam Houser added 14 and Collin Taylor added eight points to the ‘Hound cause.

Saturday night, the Greyhounds jumped out to an 18-8 first quarter lead and were able to maintain that lead over the course of the game, winning by 16 points.

Van Scyoc and Taylor led the Greyhounds with 15 points each. Jacob Frey and Houser each hit two shots from range, Houser scored 11 points and Hickman added ten points. Frey scored nine for the ‘Hounds.

The Colonial Division favorites head to Dillsburg for the Division opener Tuesday against Northern York.

New Oxford beat Gettysburg 64-50 and then outscored Mennonite 61-50 in the championship game.
