Chambersburg roundup: Lacrosse teams have way with CD East

Chambersburg 18, Central Dauphin East 5: The Trojans snapped a 9=game losing streak with a bang, reaching their highest offensive output of the season in a Mid Penn Commonwealth win on the road against the Panthers.

“We came to play today,” Chambersburg coach Keara Allshouse said. “Our defense played in a controlled aggressive style, and our attack was patient and worked the ball around the 12 until we got a good opportunity.”

Reagan Barrett and Gabriella Sabatino each fired in 6 goals to pace the offense for the Trojans (2-9, 1-4 MPC); Barrett also had 2 assists and Sabatino had one.

Also scoring were Taylor Mickey (2 goals, 3 assists); McKenna Myers (2 goals, 2 assists), Mollie Yardley-Gontz (1 goal) and Mara Costolo (1 goal).

Chambersburg 17, Central Dauphin East 4: The Trojans won for the third time in four games, rolling to a 15-0 lead in the first half to defeat the Panthers in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at Trojan Stadium on Thursday night.

“We played and looked great today,” Chambersburg coach Joey Wilmot said. “Pretty much all of our regular contributors played well.”

Sam Kunkleman had a big day for the Trojans (4-7, 2-4 MPC). He scored 6 goals and added 4 assists, including scoring his 100th career goal — the fourth in program history to reach that milestone. That also pushed him past Dom Marangoni for No. 2 in the program for career points.

Also on the scoring list were Riley Harmon (3 goals, 2 assists); Matt Tucker (2, 2); Logan Mulkey (2, 1); Garrett Iser (1, 1); Ryan Cosey (1, 1), Quinn Makosy (1 goal); Elvys Morales (2 assists), Jackson Beardsley (1 assist) and a goal for Blake Hitchens, the first of his career.

Chambersburg dominated the faceoffs, with Dayre Senft winning 10 of 15, Ayden Younkin taking 3 of 4 and Harmon going 1-for-1. Kellen Sanders made 3 saves and Kristian Freeman made one.
