CENTRAL DAUPHIN EAST AT CHAMBERSBURG
Game data: The Trojans will host the Panthers in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest at Trojan Stadium on Friday, 7 p.m. … It is Veterans Appreciation Day … Live stream available on MidPennBroadcasting.com.
Last week : CD East (1-7, 1-6 MPC) was beaten 21-0 by Cumberland Valley … Chambersburg (2-6, 2-5 MPC) gave unbeaten Harrisburg a tussle, falling 28-12.
The opponent: East’s only win came against Carlisle, in overtime … The Panthers allow 40.5 points per game and score 11.3; the Trojans give up 22.3 points and score 14.6 … The CD East QB is expected to be Dominic Payne, with Amillio Bassett, Amir Lamelle, Tristan Sok and Landen Moore the main receivers and Josiah Littlejohn could be the main running back … Chambersburg coach Gary Carter said, “They have struggled with turnovers and are still trying to find themselves. They played tough in some of their losses, but have not been able to come out on top. They do some good things on offense and give you a lot of things to defend.”
Coach’s viewpoint: Carter said, “We need to stay away from turnovers for us and get some ourselves. I think our passing game has been pretty good, so we just have to stay sound on offense and play disciplined defense. We had some good practices this week and the kids are up. We just have to stay away from a letdown after how well we played at Harrisburg.”
Unsung: Keiandre Cross, wide receiver: Cross had not caught a pass this year before the Harrisburg game. But when Lucas Ocker was injured, Cross made his presence felt — he caught 3 passes for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns … Carter said, “He is a sophomore, and he’s trying to mature in practice. He got close to getting playing time before, but when Ocker went out he got an opportunity and he made the best of it. He’s a smooth route-runner and he’s got good ball skills.”
Trojan statistics: Passing — Cam Green 63-for-104 (60.6%), 1,034 yards, 11 TDs, 5 int.; Justin Deneen 52-for-91 (57.1%), 626 yards, 5 TDs … Rushing — Malachi Tasker 129-404, 1 TD … Receiving — Jashaun Palmer 29-578, 5 TDs; Lucas Ocker 17-289, 4 TDs; Isaiah Ferguson 14-207, 2 TDs; Seth Gilliam 18-130, 1 TD … Tackles — Deakon Snavely 88; Gilliam 63; Colton Horst 54; Mason Mowen 41 … Tackles for a loss — Snavely 6; Nathan Chambers 5 … Sacks — Gilliam 3.

Coach’s viewpoint: Thurston said, “We have to win out (this week and next Friday at home vs. Middletown) to get into the playoffs. It’s do or die week. We’re healthy and we expect to win — we just have to be sharp and play fast.”
Unsung: Zachary Russell, DE: Thurston said, “Playing defensive end, Zach was matched up with Trinity’s biggest offensive lineman, and he got held all night (last Friday). I mean, they were pulling his shoulder pads up to his face. But to Zach’s credit, he handled it well and stayed composed.”
