Mason Schenzel

BOYS SOCCER
Cumberland Valley 4, Chambersburg 1: The Eagles snapped a 3-game winning streak for the Trojans, and reversed an earlier loss to Chambersburg in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at Trojan Stadium on Wednesday night.

“We outplayed them and out-shot them (22-7), but that’s soccer — you don’t always win when you play better,” Chambersburg coach Marc Furfaro said.

After Cumberland Valley went ahead 1-0, the Trojans (7-6-1, 4-5-1 MPC) evened the count. Brandon Arana scored the goal, assisted by Mason Schenzel.

Furfaro said, “We gave up three set-piece goals, which is a killer, obviously. We also dominated the second half, but just couldn’t score.”

Claire Onomastico

GIRLS SOCCER
Cumberland Valley 5, Chambersburg 0: The Eagles held the Trojans in check and rolled to a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory in New Kingstown on Wednesday evening.

“It was a resolute, yet depleted side against a very strong, skilled and aggressive opponent,” Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said.

“Moriah Martin was a defensive monster for us, and Natalie Lehman had an excellent game, regardless of which position she played. Also, Claire Onomastico pressed tirelessly the entire game.”

Olivia Keller
