Southern Fulton Tops Tussey Mountain in Four Sets

Southern Fulton bounced back in a strong way Monday night, overcoming a third-set setback to defeat Tussey Mountain, 3-1, on the road and improve to 6-3 on the season.

The Lady Indians battled through a tightly contested opening set, edging the Titans 26-24 before carrying that momentum into the second set with a 25-16 victory. Tussey Mountain answered in the third, pulling away for a 25-13 win, but Southern Fulton responded with one of its strongest sets of the night, closing out the match with a convincing 25-11 fourth-set victory.

Southern Fulton received a balanced offensive effort throughout the match. Bailey Hull paced the Lady Indians with 14 kills while also recording 11 digs. Avery Bivens added 13 kills and three blocks, providing a strong presence at the net. Kinley Layton contributed eight kills, while Brelyn Reiter finished with six.

Running the offense, setter Kennedy Hixon recorded 34 assists while adding two kills of her own.

The Lady Indians also made their presence felt at the service line. Elsie Murray led Southern Fulton with 12 service points, followed by Hull with 10 and Reiter with seven.

Defensively, Lakyin Hixon led the way with 12 digs. Hull added 11 digs, while Murray finished with eight and Bivens recorded seven.

After dropping a three-set match to county rival McConnellsburg on Friday, Southern Fulton responded with a complete team performance against Tussey Mountain. The victory moves the Lady Indians to 6-3 overall and gives the team another opportunity to build momentum as the regular season continues.

Southern Fulton will return to action Tuesday, traveling to Meyersdale for another road matchup.
